Meet Ideological leader for youth generation

Mayor Abu Bakarr Kamara (Lamtales), the newly elected Mayor of Makeni City Council, thanks and appreciates the people of Makeni City for entrusting him with the mantle of leadership for the period 2024-2030. As entrenched in the Local Council Act of 2004, local councils are mandated to produce their Development Plan, which serves as the Development Blueprint for the councils throughout my tenure of office.

Within six months of taking office, the Makeni City Council’s Development Plan was produced by my able and competent development planning committee, with technical direction from the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and critical inputs from stakeholders, youths, children, People With Disabilities (PWDs), and devolved sector heads.

The Municipal Development Plan will identify and prioritize the felt needs of the people of our municipality and beyond. This development plan is aligned with the strategic goals, priorities, and interventions of the MTNDP 2024–2030 and, by extension, the SDGs, as well as the AU Agenda 2063.

“Stand at the top of a cliff and jump off and build your wings on the way down.”

Warm regards,
Abu Bakarr Kamara
Mayor, Makeni City Council

Despite assuming office toward the end of 2023, the Council recorded laudable achievements in own-source revenue performance throughout the 2023–2024 fiscal year. Business licenses alone generated Le 432,390 (accounting for 30% of total revenue collected), significantly exceeding the 2024 projection of Le 302,750. This represents the highest collection from this source in the last three years.

Furthermore, market dues accounted for Le 404,000, which is approximately twenty percent (20%) of the total revenue collected, exceeding the total amount budgeted for this revenue source. These milestones reflect our commitment to robust financial management and the sustainable growth of our municipality.
